When I teach business and brand building for blogs, the first piece of advice I give is to get a logo designed. Normally, a custom logo created by a professional designer can range from $500 to $1,500. Yes, it’s an expensive process, however, custom branding design takes incredible talent of being able to translate who you are, what your brand stands for into a eye-catching logo. I have tremendous respect for designers and I highly recommend investing money into creating a logo if you’re serious about developing your blog into a business.
For those on a budget, a personalized logo design may be out of the question. But check out 99 Designs where for $99, a graphic designer will tweak a pre-designed logo for you with your blog name. In the Food category alone, there are over 750 logo designs!
If you want something more customized, you can submit a creative brief and have designers compete with logo designs. You choose the winner and pay a set price that you decide. Of course, the more money you offer, the more designs you’ll get.

Jaden, do you happen to know of any companies that will work with my own art? I have a design drawn up, but I need it formatted… is this even an option?
I used thelogoboitique.cim for my logo and was very happy. They did 5 concepts and unlimited revisions. My only advice is to be very specific with fredback. Tell them exactly what you like and what you don’t like for each design. Also, try and keep the revisions simple. There was one concept that I liked, but wanted a small change to the font. It took 3 emails to get it corrected because I kept burying my changes in paragraphs; bullets would have been more effective.
I found an amazingly talented graphic designer on the website etsy.com and have used her several times for logo designs, including my own blog as well as a non-profit company that I founded. She is SO reasonable with her pricing and will send your logo in several formats. She works with you until you are happy with the product. Her name is Irene and her website is http://www.etsy.com/people/cupofsnowflakes
-Beth Anne from New Orleans
I am in the process of thinking about my “brand” and redesigning my blog and such but was doing a research on the web for “logo designs” and found a cool website http://logoyes.com/ … they charge $69.00 for a logo design. I actually think I found something pretty cool, that I designed by myself with the help of their graphics and fonts.
